Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #58

Pillow box with matching card

I made a cute little pillow box the other day for a friend and made a matching card to go with it that I thought I would share with you. Here's the pillow box:

Easel Card

The lovely Di first showed me a square version of the easel card and I love it but wanted to make it to fit our standard envelopes. The tutorial for the square easel card can be found on split coast stampers. This is very easy to make with minimal stamping. Here is another one using greens:

Sweet Treat Cup Card

As I promised here is a card I made for a class I had last week. It's using the sweet treat cups available in the current mini catalogue:Supplies:
Stamp set: Something Sweet (summer mini catalogue)
Cardstock: Barely Banana, Choc Chip, Rose Red and Whisper White
Ink: Choc Chip and Rose Red
Accessories: 1 3/4", 1 1/4", round tab, small and wide oval, scallop edge punches, brads, dimensionals, sweet treat cup, paper piercing tool and mat and of course some yummy treats to put inside the cup for the recipient to enjoy.

You can see that I have put a tag with a tab behind the treats so that the person recieving the card doesn't have to tear it open to get to the goodness.

Hi Everyone,

You probably don't remember who I am. I'm the person who hasn't posted in about 9 months - ooops. You may have noticed I have been playing with my blog layout and stuff to make it look a little more inviting. I did this with the help of The cutest blog on the block website. It was a lot easier than I thought although I did need to ask my good friend Di to give me a quick hand at one point because I had confused myself. Anyway not sure if I will leave as is or do some more changing, we'll see.
You'll notice I called this post 'change is in the air'. Well I'm hoping to post a lot more on here this year. Can't promise anything but I will try my best to update my blog more often. Hopefully I will be back later today with something to show you.

Pocket Silhouettes

Here is the third card we made that I was telling you about yesterday:Stamp Set: Pocket Silhouettes

Cardstock: Tangerine Tango, Summer Sun, Whisper White

Ink: Kiwi Kiss, Summer Sun and Tangerine Tango

Accessories: Kiwi Kiss Satin Ribbon (very nice ribbon)

The colours of this card were inspired from a card I saw on Sarah Klass' blog. I very rarely use summer sun but I really like this colour combination. This card is also really easy to make. To line up each image I got the ladies to line the top of the stamp with the top of the white cardstock and I stamped the image in the centre first. All the ladies cards were lined up perfectly. This card looks great using all four images from this stamp set.

Upsy Daisy

I thought I would show you a some cards we made at a workshop a little while ago. The ladies attending were all beginners so I wanted to make some nice simple cards so they would enjoy card making. Here is the first card we made:

Stamp set: Upsy Daisy

Cardstock: Riding Hood Red, Close to Cocoa and Whisper White

Ink: Riding Hood Red, Close to Cocoa and Sahara Sand Marker

This is such a simple card. The only thing that took a little time was using the marker to give a bit of a shadow effect on the left of the image. This picture doesn't really show this well but it is there.

The second card we made is this one:Stamp Sets: Upsy Daisy and On Your Birthday

Cardstock: Pink Pirouette and Very Vanilla

Ink: Pink Pirouette and Close to Cocoa

Accessories: Candy Lane Paper and Riding Hood Red Taffeta Ribbon (which I love)

I really like this card and so did the ladies. Again this card was really easy to make as well. To make tying the ribbon easier I got the ladies to firstly attach the lenght of ribbon at each side on the back and then cut a smaller piece of ribbon to slide underneath and tie it in a knot. All the ladies did really well with all the cards we made and I hope they had fun making them.I will show you the other card we made tomorrow.

Pocket Silhouettes Gift Card Set

I love this set (Pocket Silhouettes); it was one of the first sets from the new catalogue on my wish list. I used it in a workshop the other day (I will show you the card later) and I used it to make a Hostess thankyou set (Hi Narelle) using the cute Gift Cards. A little Easter Treat

I thought I would make up just a little something for a couple of my work friends for Easter. It's nothing fancy but here it is: I just wanted to put a couple of eggs in a bag so I bought some little Lindt rabbits and eggs and put them in a medium size cellophane bag. Because the eggs were wrapped in red and gold I thought I would use matching colours when making the tag and choosing the ribbon therefore I have used Summer Sun (as I didn't have any gold cardstock) and Whisper White for the tag with Real Red ink. I used the Real Red grosgrain ribbon to tie around the top of the bag and the cropadile to punch a hole for the ribbon the go through the tag - very very quick and easy. I think they look cute.
After I finished putting them in their bags I thought I would work out the calories (as you do just to ruin things!) and the total came to 420 calories for the 5 chocolates that are in there.

Masking

I wanted to make a card using the Masking technique so I thought what better stamp set than A Happy Heart to use for it. The heart in this stamp set is perfect for masking. Here is the card I made:Stamp sets: A Happy Heart and Short and Sweet
Cardstock: Whisper White
Ink: Pink Pirouette, Riding Hood Red and Choc Chip
Accessories: Dimensionals, Choc Chip Taffeta Ribbon, Ginger Blossom paper and Dotto

This is a really simple card. The thing that took the most time was cutting out the hearts. For this technique you need to stamp the heart image onto a piece of paper and cut it out slightly smaller that the image; this makes sure you don't get white spaces in between the hearts when you do your stamping. Then I started in the middle with the red heart and stamped it onto white cardstock. I then placed the piece of paper I cut out earlier over the image and stamped another heart in pink on either side of the first heart, take the piece of paper away and repeat process as many times as you would like. I wanted 5 hearts in total so I repeated the process another 2 times. I then cut the entire heart image out and mounted it using dimensionals. I then attached a piece of Ginger Blossom paper (now retired) as it went so well and added a little ribbon and greeting - too easy.

Kristina's Colour Challenge #48

It has been so long since I've participated in one of Kristina's challenges so I was pleased I had time for this one. Here is the inspiration picture:A couple of new in-colours in this challenge Baja Breeze, Kiwi Kiss with some Choc Chip and Whisper White. Accessories: blue rhinestone brad, blender pen, piercing tool, dimensionals, scallop edge punch, choc chip wide grosgrain ribbon and stamp-a-ma-jig

I really like using White for card bases sometimes, it gives a clean fresh look I think. Once I had scored the card in half for the side fold I then scored it again 2cm from the fold. This is where the ribbon is attached and tied into a bow on the front. I used the scallop edge punch several times on this card - perhaps I got a little carried away; I was having fun so I guess that's all that matters. I used the stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp the centre of the flower and then pierced a hole for the rhinestone brad. The piece of Kiwi cardstock on the inside is also scalloped with the scallop facing the centre of the inside of the card.

Fabulous

I thought I would show you this simple card I made for a recent workshop:Stamp sets: Fabulous Flowers and Short and Sweet (a favourite)
Cardstock: Perfect Plum, Certainly Celery, Brocade Blue and Whisper White
Accessories: Brocade Blue wide grosgrain ribbon, Scallop square punch and dimensionals

This is a really easy card to make. I cut 3 small squares to stamp the small flower onto in the 3 different colours. When I stamped the flower I wanted one of them to be in the upper centre and the other two on the outer bottom corners. They are mounted onto the scalloped squares in the same colours using dimensionals. They are then stuck down using double sided tape across the top of the white cardstock. Attach the ribbon and stamp your greeting and then stick the finished piece of cardstock to the base of the card - how easy is that?!

Fabulous Baja

I really liked the size of the card used in Karen's sketch challenge that I thought I would make another card that size, here it is:Stamp sets: Fabulous Flowers, Short and Sweet and So Swirly jumbo roller
Cardstock: Baja Breeze (new in colour), Perfect Plum and Whisper White
Ink: Perfect Plum and Baja Breeze
Accessories: Rhinestone Brad, Scallop Square punch, Dimensionals and Piercing tool

Card size is 6 1/2" x 3 1/4"
I inked the jumbo roller by using a standard ink pad in Baja Breeze and rolled it across the bottom of the card. The flowers were stamped randomly on the 3 small squares of white cardstock and mounted onto the plum scalloped squares using dimensionals. Before mounting the centre flower I used the piercing tool to put a whole in the centre of the flower for the rhinestone brad. I then stuck them the scallops where I wanted them and stamped the greeting.

Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #11

I know you are all in shock right now as it has been quite some time since I made a post - very sorry about that, hopefully I can make up for that from now onwards.
Anyway I often check out the fabulous blog of Karen Giron whose work is absolutely amazing, you really need to check it out. Every week she puts up a sketch challenge and I've always wanted to give them a try and this week I finally have. I have to say I always like the sketches she comes up with but I really liked this weeks one, here's the sketch:

The measurements of the card are 6 1/2" x 3 1/4"
Here is the card I came up with for the challenge:

Cardstock: Ruby Red, Going Gray, Basic Gray and Whisper White
Accessories: Basic Gray taffeta ribbon (love this), flower brads (from new catalogue), scallop edge punch, Ginger Blossom patterned paper (summer mini), dimensionals, horizontal slot punch and silver brads

This card came together really easily given you already have the layout mapped out for you all you have to do is put it all together.

Challenge time

It's time for another one of Kristina's Colour Inspirations. Here is number 38, a tricky one this week I thought.The colours we had to use are Ruby Red, Pretty in Pink, Pumpkin Pie and Whispter White. Here's the card I made:Stamp Set: Short and Sweet
Cardstock: Ruby Red and Whisper White
Ink: Ruby Red
Accessories: Flower Fusion, striped grosgrain ribbon, corner rounder punch, rhinestone brads, dimensionals, mini glue dot and Spring Fling designer series papers.

This is a very simple layout. I cut the whisper white to size and rounded the corners using the punch. I then cut a piece of patterned paper and rounded the bottom corners to match the white cardstock. I also used the corner rounder punch for the piece of cardstock with the greeting on it. The ribbon is wrapped around the cardstock and then a bow is made a stuck down using a mini glue dot. I used a large rhinestone brad for the centre of the flower and mounted it using dimensionals.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles

At the end of my last post I commented that I had to go so I thought I would share with you the where's and how's of it all.
Matty had to take a small truck down to someone in Victoria (Loch Sport) so I decided I would go with him to keep him company (probably not that helpful considering I usually fall asleep not long after leaving home but anyway). Matty worked all day friday so we weren't able to leave as early as we had planned. We left home at 8.30pm driving the truck that does maximum speed of 85-90km per hour. I had a bit of a drive to give Matty a break and then he took over again. We had to have the truck at Loch Sport in time to catch the 1.15pm train to Melbourne from Sale (45 min drive from Loch Sport) so this meant there was not a lot of time for sleeping. Because of the truck's speed it took a good couple of hours extra to get there than it normally would. By the time we got there Matty was extremely tired as you would expect after starting work at 6.00am friday morning; anyway we did well for time. We then got a lift to Sale to catch the 3 hr train trip to Melbourne to then catch a bus the the aiport and a plane back home to Sydney where we caught a taxi to Chipping Norton where Matty works to pick up the car to drive home to Thirlmere a 50 minute drive. By the end it felt a little like we were playing the game 'The Amazing Race' only we weren't running everywhere thank goodness. Anyway we got home at 10.10pm Saturday night and went straight to sleep.
Anyway I hope everyone has had a good weekend.

Happy Birthday Gena

It's a little late but it was our niece's birthday the other day so I thought I would share the card I made for her. I used bits and pieces from the Crew Kids Girl Simply Scrappin' Kit. I bought the kit a while ago and had lots left over. I really like how it turned out so here it is:

Stamp set: God's Blessings

Cardstock: Regal Rose, Whisper White

Accessories: Rhinestone brad, Regal Rose wide grosgrain ribbon, stamp-a-ma-jig, paper, flower from simply scrappin' kit, 1" circle punch and the corner rounder punch

I cut the patterned paper and white cardstock to the sizes I wanted then stuck them together by butting them up to each other and using a strip from the kit stuck over the top of the join. I then tied the ribbon into a bow and stuck the flower down over the top. This card is backwards for me because usually I would put the flower on the left hand side but I didn't like the bow on the right so the flower had to go on the right instead. I then punch out a 1" circle from some more patterned paper from the kit to put in the centre of the flower and put the rhinestone brad through all layers before sticking it all down to the card. I then used the stamp-a-ma-jig so that I got the greeting where I wanted it to be.

Colour Challenge Time

It has been ages since I have participated in one of Kristina's Colour Challenges so I was very pleased with myself to get this one done. We are up to number 37 and here is the inspiration:
The colours we are to use are Old Olive, Baja Breeze (I used Soft Sky as we don't have this colour yet), Chocolate Chip, Pumpkin Pie and Whisper White.

Stamp set: Embrace Life and Short and Sweet

Ink: Chocolate Chip and Soft Sky ink pads and Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie Markers

Accessories: Dimensionals, Pumpkin Pie striped grosgrain ribbon, Glossy white cardstock, Soft Sky re-inker and Baby wipes

I used the Soft Sky re-inker and a baby wipe to colour the glossy white cardstock a pale blue colour. I then stamped the image using choc chip ink several times randomly onto the cardstock and coloured it in using the fine tip of the markers. I stamped the same image using the Soft Sky ink onto the card base but only on the bottom half. I added some ribbon at the side and mounted it onto choc chip and then mounted it using dimensionals onto the Soft Sky card base. I then stamped the thankyou greeting using choc chip ink also.

The photo could have been better but I was in a hurry to post it before heading out. Hope you like it.

Kelly's Keeping Box

I was asked if I could decorate a box for a lady at work (hi Margaret) for her to give to her daughter as a 'keeping box'; of course I said yes. Margaret bought a box that you can buy at Spotlight - plain brown shoe box size box that she wanted decorated in blue and black as they are her daughters favourite colours and not too girly. I had some paper at home and sorted out what I was going to use. I hadn't really done much covering of things in the past so I was a little worried about how it was going to turn out. I had a look on Splitcoast stampers website to see if I could find any tutorials that might help me. There were tutorials on decorating tins and clipboards and stuff and they all used Mod Podge so I decided that was what I was going to use to stick the paper down and as a sealer when I had finished. Anyway here is a couple of pictures of the box

Stamp set: Yummy (sale-a-bration set), text was done on computer

Paper: mixed papers from before Stampin' Up! days, whisper white cardstock

Accessories: 2 fowers from pretties kit with clear brad, Mod Podge, Black stazon ink, Brocade Blue wide grosgrain ribbon. extra sticky double sided tape, mini glue dots, jumbo glue dot and a plain shoe box bought from Spotlight

The box was quite easy to decorate and I really enjoyed doing it. I stuck the side panels down first by applying Mod Podge to the box and lining up the paper with the top of the box and wrapped a little over the underneath of the box and the sides (front and back) for a neat finish. I then stuck the paper down for the front and back ends measuring the exact size. I applied a coat of Mod Podge over entire surfaces to seal. I then stuck down a piece of plain blue on the underneath of the box to finish it off.

For the lid I did the sides first with the striped paper again wrapping extra over the top and the sides and then stuck a plain piece on blue down and applied a layer of Mod Podge. I love Mod Podge, it dries pretty quickly and really sticks stuff down.

I attacked the ribbon using extra sticky double sided tape before mounting the "Kelly's keeping box" panel at the front. I typed the text on the computer and printed if one whisper white cardstock and cut it to size. I stamped the swirl in the top right corner using stazon ink so when I applied the Mod Podge over the top it didn't smudge (I didn't want to have to do it again if it did). I put the 2 flowers together using the brad and stuck them down using a jumbo glue dot. I then needed to put a couple of mini glue dots under a couple of the petals because they weren't sitting how I wanted them to.

Birthday Gift Folder and Box

My good friend Di has made quite a few of these gift card folders and showed me how to make them. I made this one for my good friend who's birthday is on monday. Stamp sets: Embrace Life, Short and Sweet

Cardstock: Choc Chip, Very Vanilla

Ink: Choc Chip, Ruby Red

Accessories: Ginger Blossom Designer Series Paper, Ruby Red Brads, Dimensionals, Choc Chip wide grosgrain ribbon

I made this gift card folder by scoring a sheet of patterned paper at 2 1/4", 6" and 9 3/4" then turn your paper and score at 2 1/4" and 7 1/2". Follow the link above which will lead you to the tutorial Di found on how to make them. If you have any problems email me here.

Cardstock: Choc Chip, Very Vanilla

Accessories: Blender Pen

I used the blender pen and ink pads to colour the flower stamp and place the image in the top left and bottom right corners of the vanilla cardstock. When I was doing this I didn't think about where the images would be when I finished so next time I would stamp the image in the top right and bottom left corners. Once I stamp the image I used the blender pen and Ruby Red ink to colour parts of the flowers. Before colouring the image I wiped some excess ink on scrap paper to get a liter more subtle colour.

I love choc chip with this paper, it has to be my favourite paper at the moment and who doesn't love choc chip - really!!

I attached the ribbon using a brad front and back and then simply tied it into a bow.

Because I was making this for a good friend I wanted to put it into a box so I made a very simple pizza box. I've seen many of these around lately but again Di showed me some she had made and how to make them; so easy. Here is the link to where Di found them

I allow an extra millimetre for the top of the box so when you fold it down it doesn't pull a little. The measurements for this box are 14cm x 10.5cm (10.6cm for the top) x 1.5cm deep. To make this box you will need to cut your cardstock to measure 17cm x 25.6cm.

T stamped this image from Embrace Life set in Ruby Red randomly over the cardstock.

To make the tag I cut the Vanilla cardstock at 3cm wide then threaded it through the punch to make it longer in length. I did the same with the larger punch by cutting the Choc Chip cardstock at 3.5cm and punched it to length.

I've made a couple of cards using this stamp set for a couple of birthdays - a 50th and 40th card. Here they are:

Stamp Set: Live Your Dream and Think Happy Thoughts

Cardstock: Ruby Red, Chocolate Chip, Sage Shadow and Very Vanilla

Ink: Sage Shadow and Ruby Red Markers

Accessories: Scallop punch, 1 1/4 and 1 3/8 circle punches, Ruby Red Brads, Piercing Tool, Dimensionals and Corner Rounder punch (you could use the new scallop edge punch found in the summer mini catalogue)

The layout for this card was inspired by a card in the summer mini catalogue on page 19. I could have made life easier for myself by using the new scallop edge punch down the sides of the choc chip cardstock but I don't have it yet. The 50 inside the circle was done using rub-ons I had a home. The flower was inked using the Stampin' Write Markers in Ruby Red and Sage Shadow (still on special until the 15th Dec).

I really like this card. This card was made for one of our friends at work who recently turned the BIG 40!!! This layout is pretty straight forward. I cut 2 pieces of ribbon; The first one I wrapped around the Patterned paper and stuck down and the second I tied in a knot and then stuck it down where I wanted it. I often do this to save ribbon.

A Little Ocean Commotion

I made this card using my good friend Di's stamp set. This is a set that Di loves but I'm not drawn to it yet - see what you think:Stamp Set: Ocean Commotion and Short and Sweet'
Cardstock: Blue Bayou, Sage Shadow and Whisper White
Ink: Sage Shadow and Blue Bayou
Accessories: Sponge, Night of Navy Brads, Piercing Tool and the Mat Pack

The seahorse is stamped 3 times without re-inking in Blue Bayou. When you look at this card face to face you can see the 3rd seahorse better. I lightly sponged some sage shadow and blue bayou ink around the edges of the white cardstock and then stamped the greeting in blue bayou. I used the mat pack to as a guide to pierce holes for the brads so that they were aligned evenly when I was finished. I stamped the swirl stamp randomly (mainly around the edges) of the sage shadow cardstock in sage shadow ink and then sponged the edges using the same ink.

Eastern Blooms

Another card using a summer mini stamp set. This set is called Eastern Blooms and I've also used the Lots of Dots jumbo roller which I love.

Cardstock: Old Olive, Groovy Guava and Chocolate Chip

Ink: Old Olive, Groovy Guava and Chocolate Chip

Accessories: Groovy Guava double stitched ribbon, Dimensionals and the Stampin' Around Wheel Guide

This is such an easy layout and one of my favourites when I'm stuck for ideas. I rolled the dots on the Olive card base. I used the Stampin' Around Wheel Guide to make sure I stamped the dots in a straight line as it is noticeable if it isn't straight. I then stamped the large and one of the small flowers randomly in Groovy Guava ink onto the Groovy Guava cardstock. I stamped an extra large flower on a scrap piece of cardstock and cut it out and raised it on dimensionals. I then tied the ribbon into a bow and mounted it onto a piece of Choc Chip cardstock and then attached it to the Olive card.

Here are another 2 cards I've made using this set:

I've used the same colour combo for all 3 cards because I loved them so much. The colours of the new ribbon in the summer mini catalogue was what inspired me to use these colours.

Accessories: Jumbo eyelet, Cropadile, wide choc chip grosgrain ribbon, 1" choc chip double stitched ribbon, dimensionals, markers and word window punch.

Happy Anniversary Matty

Today is my 7th wedding anniversary to by beautiful husband Matt (Matty or Matthew when he's in trouble - just kidding) so I can't talk long as he is on his way home. Here is the card I made for him using the A Happy Heart stamp set from the Summer Mini Catalogue. I loved this stamp set as soon as I saw it - perfect timing!!!

I love these colours together, they are Rose Red, Close to Cocoa, Choc Chip (my favourite) and Very Vanilla. This ribbon is also from the new mini catalogue - how nice is it??? The layout is pretty simple.

I've made 2 other cards using the same set but I will have to put those up tomorrow for you to look at.

Christmas Bauble Cards

I made this cards a couple of weeks ago and really liked how they turned out, again a set of 3. I've used Always Artichoke, River Rock and Very Vanilla for all three. I think these colours look great together. Here's the first one:

Stamp Sets: Season of Joy and True Friend
Ink: Always Artichoke
Accessories: Always Artichoke grosgrain ribbon, gold brads, dimensionals, Boho Blossoms Punch, 1 1/4 and 1 3/8 circle punches and mini glue dots.
Here's the second card:

For the baubles on this card I used the snow flake from the Season of Joy stamp set. I also stamped the polka dot background stamp on the base of the card a little something extra which I really like.

And the third card:

I've used River Rock for the card base and stamped the polka dot background in River Rock ink, apart from that everything else is the same.

For the bows on the cards I stuck the lengths of Artichoke ribbon on the card at the desired lengths using double sided tape. I then tied each bow individually and stuck them down using mini glue dots - they worked a treat.

simple christmas cards

Here are a couple of quick and simple cards I made the other day:Stamp sets: Season of Joy, Many Merry Messages and Snow Flurries

Ink; Blue Bayou and Soft Sky

Cardstock: Whisper White, Soft Sky and Blue Bayou

Accessories: 2 way glue pen , embossing buddy and glitter

I made a set of 3 using the same layout and stuff. As you can see this card is very simple to make. I stamped the swirl first in soft sky randomly over entire piece of cardstock. I then stamped the snow flurry in blue bayou where I wanted them. I stuck the white to the blue bayou later and then to the soft sky card base. I lined up the card on my grid paper and stamped the greeting in the middle. I wiped the embossing buddy over entire card, used the 2 way glue pen over the snow flurries and then applied the glitter - simple right?

Here's the second one, I've just added some paper piercing to this one:

When you look closely I pierced holes along the dots of some of the swirls to add a little something extra. For this card I only put glitter on a few of the snow flurries.

The third one I added some ribbon:

It's Beautiful

As promised here are 2 cards I made using the It's Beautiful roller from the spring mini catalogue. The first is a card made using the chalkboard technique:Stamp set: It's Beautiful roller and A Beautiful Thing

Ink: whisper white craft stampin' pad and choc chip

cardstock: ruby red, choc chip and more mustard

Accessories: stampin' pastels, choc chip wide grosgrain ribbon, daubers

I used white craft ink and rolled the roller across a piece of choc chip cardstock. I then used daubers and different coloured pastels from the earth elements family to apply colour to the stamped image. When using daubers and chalks you only need to dab the colour on - don't rub when applying the chalk. I layered this onto a piece of more mustard card and then onto ruby red. The greeting is stamped in choc chip.

The second I made using the same roller:

Ink: Pretty in Pink and Certainly Celery

Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Pretty in Pink and Certainly Celery

Accessories: word window, piercing tool, glietter, rhinestone brad, embossing buddy and 2 way glue pen
This was a very quick and easy card to make. I rolled the roller diagonally across the vanilla cardstock. I mounted it onto pretty in pink cardstock. I used the piercing tool along some of the swirly dotted lines and applied glitter to some of the flowers. Here is a closer look at the piercing:

Marker and Rub-On Promotion

I haven't posted anything recently as I've been away on holidays. We had a great time and have been doing a few things around the house after getting back. I don't go back to work until next tuesday so I still have a few days of freedom. Anyway I wanted to let you know about this months promotions that Stampin' Up! are offering:

This card was made using the same rub-ons in white. The flower was stamped in ruby red onto white cardstock and then the rub-on applied over the top. You can see how the stamp set and rub-ons match perfectly. I then used rub-ons down the side and for the greeting. The flower was mounted up on a couple of layer using dimensionals with a red brad in the centre.

Another Season of Joy Christmas

I used the small flower stamp inked in River Rock to randomly stamp on the patterned paper. The snow flake is punched out and mounted using dimensionals. I used the 2 way glue pen and added glitter. The embossing buddy is good to use before applying glitter to your card to help prevent glitter ending up all over your card where you don't want it.

Priceless Birthday Card

I was asked to make a few cards from a friend at work so I made this one quite quickly before going to work one morning.How lovely is this satin ribbon, you almost don't want to use it it's so nice!!

Stamp sets: Short and Sweet and Priceless
Cardstock: Purely Pomegranate, Bashful Blue and Very Vanilla
Ink: Regal Rose, Purely Pomegranate
Accessories: Silver brads, word window punch, Purely Pomegranage satin ribbon (from summer mini catalogue)

On the butterflies I used a technique called 'Rock 'n' Roll'. I inked the butterfly in Regal Rose ink then rolled the edges in Purely Pomegranate ink. The greeting is stamped on very vanilla cardstock and punched out using the word window punch. I then punched another 4 word windows and stuck them all together so it was raised a little.

Love Note Bag

When we were at Regionals in September another Demonstrator Jayne Mercer showed us some very cool things to make using different size envelopes. I couldn't wait to go home and have a go. One of the projects she showed us was to make a little handbag using 2 love note envelopes, some patterned paper, ribbon and velcro (or 'rip and stick' as I like to call it). How cute does this look. Below is a picture of the inside:

You can see here there are 2 love note envelopes attached together by the envelope flap to a piece of cardstock. The double sided patterned paper is stuck to the other side from top to bottom. You can cut the paper once it has been stuck to the envelopes or you can do what I did here and fold the remaining paper in half and stick it together and use it as a flap. I used the corner rounder punch to round the corners of the flap.

Inside the bag you can make a card and something else to stick inside the envelopes. I made this bag for a friend so I made this very simple friendship card.

I was going to make a magnet to put in the other envelope but instead I made something that my friend could display somewhere in her home so I made this using one of the stamps from God's Blessings layered up with a stand on the back.
Here is the back view. You can see I added a very small piece of ribbon so that the cardstock won't fall flat and remain upright.

Season Of Joy

Here are some christmas cards using the Season Of Joy set from the spring mini catalogue. I've used Old Olive, Real Red and Very Vanilla or whisper White on all 3 cards. For the background strip I stamped the small flower randomly using the olive and red ink. I inked the season of joy image with red ink then again in olive ink and cut out the '&' symbol, the snowflake and the tree and mount them using dimensionals.Same layout here but I've used Double Sided Patterned Paper instead of stamping the background for a little bit of a differnt look.I really like this one. I stamped the tree twice onto the cardstock and a third time on a piece of scrap and cut it out and mounted it using dimensionals in the centre. The bow was tied separately and stuck on using mini glue dots. I used the Merry Christmas from the Occasional Greetings stamp set and the large oval punch.

Kristina's Colour Inspiration #25

Here we are again - colour challenge time. This weeks colours are very nice. Here's the inspiration picture:When I saw these colours I thought they would be perfect for another card I needed to make so the card you will see serves 2 purposes - hows that for time management!!! I needed to make a card for my niece for her birthday and new that I wanted to use the Pretty Princess stamp set but didn't know what colours I was going to use so I decided to use the colour challenge colours and I think it turned out really well. Here's the card:

Mel is my friend at work who turns 25 today. She really didn't want to turn 25 so she'll be real happy that I told everyone how old she is - NOT!!! Here's the card I made for her from me and some other girls from work (hi Colleen and Kelly):Stamps: God's Blessing and True Friend from the spring mini catalogue

Ink: Real Red and Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Real Red brads, Real Red wide grosgrain ribbon, Boho punch, 5 petal punch, dimensionals

You might remember these flowers from the swap I made for Regionals that I didn't get to finish and had out so I had a lot left over which made this card a little quicker to make. I am loving the wide grosgrain red ribbon at the moment so that was a must on this card.
To line the flowers up I set them out where I wanted them and stuck them down beginning with the middle one.

Micheal's Birthday Card

So as you saw from the previous post the girls made their dad a birthday card each, so here is the card I made for their dad (Micheal).

It's simple but I really like it

Stamp sets: Think Happy Thoughts and Rough Texture jumbo roller Cardstock: Blue Bayou, Soft Sky and Chocolate Chip Ink: Blue Bayou Accessories: Punches: small star, designer label, 1 1/4" and 1 3/8" circle, silver brads, dimensionals, mat pack and piercing tool.

For the choc chip layer I used the designer label punch 3 times next to each other. I inserted the punch as far as it would go so that each time I punched it I only needed to line it up at the side. I then trimmed the piece of cardstock to the desired size. I then cut a piece of Soft Sky to go across the middle. The rest is pretty self explanatory. Hope you like it.

Chloe and Teagan's cards

On thursday I picked up 2 of my nieces after work so they could stay with me for a couple of nights. Matty went away for the long weekend flying so I thought it was a good opportunity to spend some time with Chloe and Teagan. Here's a photo of them, Teagan with her new glasses she got the other day and she looks very cute in them if I do say so myself.

While they were visiting they wanted to make a birthday card for their dad who's birthday is on Monday. They chose colours and stamps sets they wanted to use for their cards and here is what they came up with.

Chloe chose white, orchid opulence and tempting turquoise cardstock and ink. The cake is from the Fun and Fast Notes stamp set with a swirl in each corner of the tempting turquoise from the Priceless set. She used the retired wheel for the centre panel. Chloe was happy with her card and so was her dad. Chloe stamped the same swirl on the envelope to match.

Teagan chose Old Olive, Chocolate Chip and Real Red and the Priceless stamp set. The Happy Birthday greeting is from one of last years hostess sets. Teagan had a great time making her card and could wait to give it to her dad. She also stamped the envelope to match the card - very cute.

Kristina's Colour Challenge # 24

Wow it's been so long since I've done one of Kristina's colour challenges. This week's colours are so my colours which should have made things easier but it took me a while to complete and at not 100% satisfaction with the end result. Anyway here is the inspiration picture:The colours as you can see are Choc Chip, Pumpkin Pie, Kiwi Kiss (which we don't have so I have used Old Olive) and Very Vanilla

Here is my card for this weeks challenge:

Accessories: Very Vanilla taffeta ribbon, old olive brads, dimensionals
Ink: Choc Chip and Pumpkin Pie

I've used the Die Cut blooms from the mini catalogue and then stamped the swirl from the Priceless set randomly in pumpkin pie ink over the flower. I used the same swirl for the corners of the cards stamped in choc chip ink.

Sam's Celebration Colour Challenge

Sam is running a colour challenge in celebration of 20,000 blog hits - how cool is that, CONGRATULATIONS Sam. The challenge finishes tomorrow so I've been busy making a card after getting home from work today. Here is my card:The colours we had to use were Perfect Plum, Soft Sky, Rose Red, Pretty in Pink and Whisper White.

Stamp set: Fabulous Flowers, Priceless and canvas background
Accessories: Pretty in Pink taffeta ribbon, rub-ons, pink brad, white eyelet, dimensionals

I thought I would have trouble putting these colours together but I like the end result and am beginning to love this Fabulous stamp set. It was not a favourite of mine but when I had a little play with it when I was at Di's house I had to borrow it for a while (thanks again Di).
For the large flower I used the 'kissing' technique. I inked the canvas background stamp with rose red ink and then stamped it onto the large flower - very easy and effective.

FABULOUS Emerging Colour

I've made 3 cards using a technique called Emerging Colour that we were shown at Regionals by another Demo Vanessa Webb. I couldn't wait to go home and give this technique a try after seeing Vanessa's cards so when I was at my good friend Di's house last monday we had a play and here's what I came up with:

Colours: Close to Cocoa, Bashful Blue, Brocade Blue and whisper white

Ink: Brocade Blue, Close to Cocoa, Bashful Blue and versamark

Stamp Set: Fabulous Flowers (borrowed from Di), Canvas background, Priceless and Level 1 hostess set

Accessories: Brocade Blue wide grosgrain ribbon, word window punch, rhinestone brads, embossing buddy and powder in clear and heat tool and brayer.

The Emerging Colour technique was really fun to do. What I did here was stamp the canvas background stamp onto a piece of plain whisper white cardstock. I then randomly stamp the large swirl stamp over the piece of cardstock in Brocade Blue ink. I then inked the large flower and another flower a couple of times from Fabulous Flowers in versamark ink and stamped in on the cardstock, apply clear embossing powder to the flower and heat with heat tool. Make sure you wipe your cardstock with your embossing buddy before embossing to minimise any stray embossing powder that you don't want. I then used my brayer and Close to Cocoa ink to go over the entire piece of cardstock until I had an even coverage of colour. I then cut the flowers out and layered the smaller flower on the large flower.

With this card I brayered the entire piece of white cardstock with Bashful Blue ink. I then stamped the large swirl from Priceless randomly over the cardstock in Brocade Blue ink. Emboss the flower using versamark ink and clear embossing powder and then cut the flower out. Again I've used a blue rhinestone brad in the centre and the wide grosgrain ribbon in Brocade Blue. The card base is Chocolate Chip with a layer of Bashful Blue. The happy birthday greeting is from Occasional Greetings. I really like how this one turned out.

This card I've used Close to Cocoa for the base with a layer of Chocolate Chip and Bashful Blue.

I stamped the smaller swirl from the Priceless set on the bottom half of the card. For the flower in this card I stamped the Canvas background stamp over the entire piece of white cardstock in Bashful Blue ink and then stamped the larger swirl in the same ink randomly over the cardstock. After embossing the flower I used the brayer and Close to Cocoa ink over entire image and then cut it out.

Baroque Motifs card set

A while ago I made a set of 6 cards in a little box for my mum but just haven't gotten around to putting them on my blog until now. Baroque is one of my most favourite stamp sets. You can make a really nice card quite quickly using this set which is great. Here is the card set:When I made this set of cards I wanted to use the same 3 colours but have different greetings on them for a mixture of occasions. I love Certainly Celery and Elegant Eggplant together which I have to thank Di for as those of you who know her know that she absolutely LOVES Celery. I was at her house one day and we made a card using these colours together and have loved the combo ever since.

These cards have a tent opening. You can see that the layout is basically the same but I have changed the colours around and used different ribbons on each.

Supplies: white taffeta ribbon, certainly celery wide grosgrain ribbon, elegant eggplant and certainly celery ink and cardstock and greetings from level 1 hostess set and boho backgrounds

These cards have a side opening. Again they have the same layout as each other just alternating the colours. I've added some brads and ribbon.

Supplies: Cetainly Celery brads and used the paper piercer and mat pack to position them, elegant eggplant grosgrain ribbon, wide celery grosgrain ribbon, word window punch and greetings from Level 1 hostess set and God's blessings.

These cards also have a tent opening. On these cards I've thread ribbon through the front layer of the card using the horizontal slot punch.

Supplies: white taffeta ribbon, celery wide grosgrain ribbon, horizontal slot punch and greetings from Level 1 hostess set.

Chupa Chup Flower Pot

Box of Flowers

I made Di this box of flowers as well. I have had this idea in my head for a while but haven't got around to making it until now. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.

Cardstock: Bashful Blue, Die cut blooms in various colours and sizes

Punches: 5 petal flower punch, boho punch, scallop punch, various size circle punches

Accessories: Real Red wide grosgrain ribbon, Wild Wasabi double stitched ribbon, wire, florest foam, sticky strip, large glue dots and snail adhesive or double sided tape.

The box was made using an Explosion Box template - very easy. Here is a tutorial you can use to make the box.

The flowers were made using the Die cut blooms from the spring mini catalogue. I also made a couple of extra additions using a couple of punches listed above. Once I sorted them out how I like them I stuck the various layers using snail adhesive then stuck the wire to the backs using large glue dots and sticky strip. I covered the backs in the same coloured cardstock as the base of the flowers in various size circles to suit the size of the flowers. I tied some Wild Wasabi ribbon around the wire as leaves. Then it's a matter or arranging the flowers how you want them into the Florist foam inside the box. I tied some ribbon around the box to keep everything intact and to finish it off.

Regional Swap

A few weeks ago I attended Regional Seminar in Sydney where we learnt lots of cool techniques from other Demo's. I always come away with so many projects to make and a very long wish list; anyway in the past I have made swaps to hand out and planned on doing the same this year but I left it to the last minute and things weren't going to plan so I didn't get to put them together to hand out. I did start so here is the card I would have handed out:

Thankyou card

I was asked to make a thankyou card, this is what I came up with: Colours: Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Very Vanilla
Stamp set: Level 2 Hostess set
Accessories: Old Olive wide grosgrain ribbon, dimensionals, 3/4" circle punch and die-cut flowers

I love this card and it is so simple to make. It is a 12cm square card. I then put an old olive mat on the very vanilla. I chose 2 flowers in the same shape but different size then stamped and punched out the greeting and mounted in using a dimensional.

The ribbon was attached by cutting a length for the left side and taping it down. I then cut a longer length and tied it in a knot and attached it with tape. Obviously I did that before sticking down the olive mat.

For Colleen - Love Ya Guts

Someone at work wanted me to make this card for Colleen. All she asked was that the card have Love Ya Guts on it so here it is: Colours: Groovy Guava, Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla and Certainly Celery
Stamp sets: Level 1 Hostess Set, True Friend and a non stampin up alphabet set (hero art)
Accessories: dimensionals, word window punch, stamp-a-ma-jig, rhinestone brad, 1 1/4" and 1 3/8" circle punches, 5 petal flower punch and groovy guava double stitched ribbon.

The card is 12cm square with the front of the card being about 5 mm short, so when the card is closed completely you can see the guava from the back of the card. I scored the card at 9cm and added a strip of chocolate chip for this effect.

The flower image is made by stamping the large flower stamp from the True Friend stamp set found in the spring mini catalogue in certainly celery. I then punched the groovy guava cardstock twice using the 5 petal flower punch, layed them over each other so that they lined up with the stamped flower image. I stuck them using dimensionals. I then punched a circle in choc chip using the 1 3/8" circle punch. I stamped with flower in certainly celery and punched it out using the 1 1/4" circle punch. I then put a green rhinestone brad in the centre and mounted it on dimensionals.

I used the stamp-a-ma-jig to position the brackets around the words Love ya guts. To make the ribbon corner I cut a small length of ribbon and tied it in a know and just stuck it down.

Farewell Annette

It was Annette's last day at work on Thursday so I made this card for the girls to sign and give to her.

I love how Real Red and Old Olive go so nicely together.

The girls at work bought her a present so I wrapped it to match the card:
I used paper from Ikea and stamped it using the circle heart image from the level 2 hostess set. I would normally have stamped the paper before wrapping the present but because it was a box I decided to stamp it once it was wrapped so I could put the stamps where I wanted them to go. I used the wide grosgrain ribbon in Old Olive and tied it into a bow. I love how this turned out and everyone commented on how it matched.

Annette we will miss you at work and we wish you all the best in your new job and house. I'm sure you won't forget us and keep in touch.

Colour Inspiration #18

Kristina has given us a Colour Inspiration this week with interesting colours. I thought I would have trouble putting them together but I think I did ok. Here is the Inspiration picutre

The colours are Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie, Rose Red and you could use Summer Sun or Green Galore. I chose Green Galore. I must try using Summer Sun in a card as I don't really use that colour.

Here is my entry for this week:

I've made a square card (love them at the moment). The layout is pretty basic I think. The flower is from the Die Cuts in the Spring mini catalogue as are the Rub Ons used for the greeting. I've used a jumbo eyelet for the centre of the flower then added a rhinestone brad in the centre also. The brads are from the earth elements and bolds brights colour ranges. The Black cardstock is textured and in the corners I've used the slit punch and just taken a little bit out from each corner. The circles in the centre of the flower were made using the 1 1/4" and 1 3/8" punches and once stuck together were mounted using dimensionals along with the pumpkin pie flower.

My Co-ordinator at work asked me to make a card for her. She picked a card from the catalogue that she liked but wanted it in blues so here it is:The card that my Co-ordinator liked is on page 114 of the Idea book and Catalogue so that's what I used to make most of the card. I changed the colours and didn't add all the detail, I really like how it turned out and so did she.

Today is my nephew Tom's 1st birthday and here is the card I made for him:This card was inspired by the Nursery Necessities stamp set. I don't have it but wish I did. I decided I would make my own boat using our punches.

Inspired by real living magazine

I bought Real Living magazine last month and I really loved the colours on the cover so I thought I would use the cover to inspire myself to come up with something. Here is the cover of the magazine for you to see:The colours I've chosen are Regal Rose, Taken with Teal, Whisper White and Basic Black

I've been meaning to make this card for a while but just never got around to it until this morning. I visited with my good friend Di yesterday and gave her the challenge also so check out her blog next week to see what she has come up with.

Anyway here is the card I made:

I love square cards and I found some envelopes the other day 13cm x 13cm so I made this card 12cm x 12cm (sort of). When you first look at this card it looks like a normal 12cm x 12cm card but the front is actully smaller. The front of the card is only 9cm. As you can see in the picture below I attached Black textured cardstock to the top of the Taken with Teal base card after I used the slit punch to make the scalloped edge and attached the left over piece of cardstock to the inside of the card.

Cardstock: Taken with Teal, Basic Black textured

Accessories: Paper from Crew Kids Girl Simply Scrappin' kits, 5/8" Regal Rose grosgrain ribbon, Slit punch, Black brads, Flower sticker from Scrappin' kit, piercing tool and rub-ons from the spring mini catalogue.

Once I attached the Black scalloped edge I attached the pink and white paper after attaching the ribbon. I then put a brad in the centre of the flower and 2 at the bottom left of the card. I then put the make a wish rub on down the side of the black cardstock and that's pretty much it. It was a very simple card to make and I quite like it.

Happy Birthday Matty

It was my husbands birthday yesterday and this is the card I made for him

I struggle a little to make masculine cards so I was flicking through the Stampin' Up! Idea book and Catalogue and saw a card that inspired me to end up making this card. It was a card on page 33 which as Matty would say is a sign as that's how old Matty was yesterday!!! It was a simple layout and I liked it.

I've used Kraft cardstock for the base. I used the striped paper from the Outlaw designer series papers across the middle. I used choc chip and sage shadow and very vanilla on the rest of the card. The choc chip strip is mounted on dimensionals along with the designer label.

I used the happy birthday from the Think Happy Thoughts stamp set. I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig and sage shadow marker to get the happy birthday where I wanted it. I punched a piece of very vanilla card using the designer label punch. I then stamped the word happy on the punched out very vanilla cardstock and then coloured birthday and used the stamp-a-ma-jig to postition it where I wanted it.

I used an alphabet stamp set (Hero Art) that I found that I had bought at a craft show years ago to use to write Matty's name. I really should invest in a Stampin' Up! alphabet stamp set I know. I stamped the letters at different heights so that I didn't have to get it perfectly straight.

The brads are from the Vintage colour selection. I used the Mat Pack and a piercing tool to pierce the holes in each corner of the Kraft card. Here is a close up of the label and you can see the piercing in the corner better also

Colour Inspiration #17

Here is Kristina's colour inspiration for this week:

The colours are Regal Rose, Rose Red, Sage Shadow and Whisper White

When I saw this Inspiration picture I thought of the Wild Rose stamp set so that's what I used. Here is my card for the week:

I thought I would use Whisper White for the base of the card as it's nice and fresh. I stamp some leaves on a piece of Sage Shadow cardstock. I stamped onto scrap paper first before stamping on the cardstock to give a more subtle finish. I then tore the paper to get a rough edge.

I stamp the flower in Regal Rose then the outline in Rose Red onto Whisper White cardstock. I mounted that onto Sage Shadow and textured Regal Rose cardstock. The Sage layer is mounted using Dimensionals.

The greeting is from the True Friend stamp set from the spring mini catalogue. I stamped this in Rose Red ink and used the stamp-a-ma-jig to get the greeting where I wanted it. I then used Whisper White grosgrain ribbon down the side of the card.

Happy Birthday Charlie

My friend from work (Mel) asked me to make her a one year old birthday card. The only requirement was that it hve her name on it, so here is what I came up with:

Cardstock: Certainly Celery, Pixie Pink, Barely Banana and Whisper White
Ink: Close to Cocoa, Regal Rose, Pixie Pink, So Saffron and Certainly Celery
Stamp set: Bundle of Joy, Short Order Alphabet, Occasional Sayings
Accessories: Certainly Celery wide grosgrain ribbon, boho blossoms punch, 3/4" and 1" circle punches, corner rounder punch, dimensionals, double sided tape or snail adhesive, dauber, stamp-a-ma-jig and Barely Banana marker

I used one of the stamps from Bundle of Joy to stamp over the base of the card using the barely banana marker. I stamped the bear in close to cocoa and then I used a dauber and close to cocoa ink to colour the image. You need to only use small amounts of ink so you can control the colour. I used a very small amount of regal rose ink on a dauber to colour the cheeks.

To make the scalloped edge on the pink cardstock I used the corner rounder punch with the guard taken off. I used the stamp-a-ma-jig to position the happy birthday greeting before randomly stamping the name Charlie. You could use the stamp-a-ma-jig to position the alphabet letters in line when stamping the name if you wanted also.

I used the number one stamp from a set that I found when I was tidying up the other day - who new!!! I then mounted the number after I punched it out on dimensionals onto the flower that I punched using the new boho punch from the spring mini catalogue that will be released in August.

Colour Inspiration #16

It's that time again for Kristina Werner's colour inspiration. The colours in this weeks colour inspiration are very pretty and the picture is so cute. I automatically thought baby card but I didn 't go in that direction; anyway here's the picture:

The colours are very vanilla, soft sky, certainly celery and pumpkin pie.

I made 2 cards this week, here's the first:

I've used another new stamp set from the spring mini catalogue soon to be available. This stamp set is called A Beautiful Thing. There is a matching roller that goes with this set and of course I did buy it too - couldn't help myself!!!

I stamped the 3 flowers in certainly celery, soft sky and pumpkin pie on very vanilla cardstock. I used the Stampin' Around Wheel Guide so that the flowers were all in line with each other. I stamped them a couple of times and then used the 3/4" and 1/2" circle punch in each colour for the centres of the flowers. I used the mat pack and a piercing tool to pierce 4 holes in the centre of each flower like the centre of a button. The 2 circles are mounted on dimensionals. I used the mat pack again with the certainly celery marker to put dots as a border around the flowers - you can't really see it in this photo.

The ribbon I used was the wide grosgrain in certainly celery just straight across the card and then very vanilla taffeta ribbon tied in a know over the celery ribbon.

The greeting is from the same stamp set and is stamped in pumpkin pie ink and punched out using the large oval punch.

Here is my second card:

This card was extremely quick to make, it literally only took me 15 minutes to make and I really like how it turned out. I think I prefer it to the first one!

I made a square card 10.5cm x 10.5cm. Here I have used the Die-Cuts - Blooms for the pumpkin flower, also from the spring mini catalogue. These are great for making quick cards. I used celery for the base of the card with a layer of very vanilla. I've used the wide grosgrain ribbon in celery down the side. I cut of piece of soft sky textured cardstock to mount the pumpkin pie flower onto which is mounted using dimensionals. I punched a soft sky circle using the 3/4" circle punch and then used mini glue dots to stick a very vanilla button in the centre.

The greeting is from a stamp set called One Of A Kind from the spring mini catalogue which I stamped in Pumpkin Pie.

I really liked using these colours together and I'm finding these challenges really fun. I hope you like what I've done with these colours and thanks for checking out my blog.

6 Cards and a Gift Box

As part of my sister's birthday present I thought I would make her some cards and put them in a box so I did, here's some photos:

These photos were taken quickly but I'm sure you will get the idea. This box was made using a single A4 sheet of real red cardstock. I kept the same colours as the birthday card just because I was enjoying using them. These are not my usual colours but it's fun trying something different. Here is a photo of the cards I made to go inside:

Originally I was going to make girlie cards that my sister (Kate) could give for parties that her daughter Chloe might go to but as soon as I gave myself a theme it wouldn't come to me so I just made whatever I wanted. I had just received my spring mini catalogue goodies so for some of the cards I used the die cut blooms from that which make great easy cards. I also used the level 2 hostess set which I am also loving at the moment. Below is a photo of he box and the belly band that I made to go around it:

The belly band is made using So Saffron cardstock with the wide grosgrain ribbon in real red. I used the 5 petal flower punch and red eyelets for the flowers.

Gift Card Purse Birthday Card

It was my sister's birthday on friday and I wanted to make one of these Gift Card Purse. This idea was from a swap that Sharon Turnball made for Convention in April. You can also see them made by another couple of Demo's, Di and Sam. Here is my attempt:

Colours: Real Red, Tempting Turquoise and So Saffron
Stamp set: Level 2 hostess set and Cheery Chat that I borrowed from Di
Accessories: Brads (bold brights colour family), eyelet (basic colour range), real red 5/8" grosgrain ribbon (which I am loving at the moment!), the word window punch, dimensionals, corner rounder punch, 5 petal flower punch and an envelope for the inside.

I stamped an image from the level 2 hostess set randomly on the real red cardstock but you can't see it that well in this photo - sorry about that. The insde is made up of an envelope folded in half with each end cut off to put inserts inside to write a message on and to add a gift voucher inside. Here is a photo of the inserts I made:

The image I used on these inserts are the same as those used on the red cardstock in the above photo. I used the wide grosgrain ribbon as tabs at the top of each insert.
I really enjoyed making this and it was pretty easy as well.

Colour Inspiration #15

This weeks colour challenge has come around so fast but the colours are lovely, my kind of colours. Here is this weeks challenge from Kristina

The colours are chocolate chip, close to cocoa, really rust, certainly celery and whisper white (yum). I really enjoyed using these colours and like the card I made. It's a simple layout but I like it so here it is:

I've used my newly obtained spring mini catalogue supplies for this card, True Friend stamp set and Apple Cider Designer Series Paper which is absolutey gorgeous. I used really rust for the base of the card and mounted choc chip with the patterned paper on it. The image is stamped in really rust and certainly celery. I used my stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp the words a true friend then punched it out using the word window punch. I used the lovely wide grosgrain ribbon in choc chip and certainly celery brads. In the centre of the flower I've used a small button from the earth elements colour family.

Colour challenge take two

I thought I would have another go at this week's colour challenge. Here is my card:I've stayed with basic black, basic gray and whisper white (I love basic gray). I've used the stamp set Together Forever along with the matching roller Forever Flowers. I used basic gray textured cardstock for the base of the card. I then mounted white onto black onto the gray. I used basic gray ink for the roller across the middle and mounted it on basic gray textured cardstock and then onto the card. I used the scallop punch on black cardstock with the 1 3/8" circle punch in gray and punched out the image using the 1 1/4" circle punch. I cut out the smaller flower and mounted it using a dimensional onto the bigger flower with a silver brad in the centre. The scallop is mounted on the card using dimensionals. I used the basic gray taffeta ribbon which I love across the middle. Here is a close up of the flower on the scallop:

Colour Inspiration #14

Here is Kristina's challenge for the week:

This was a hard challenge for me but good. I hope you like what I've done with the colours, not sure if I'm happy with what I've done yet but here it is anyway:The colours are ruby red, river rock, basic black, going grey and basic grey.

The base of the card is going grey. I've stamped the flower image from the level 3 hostess set Time Well Spent on going grey in basic black. I've coloured parts of the flower using a blender pen and ruby red ink (I don't have ruby red marker) and put a brad in the centre. I've stamped the greeting from Occasional Greetings in ruby red on river rock. I put a little crystal effects on the dots on the flower. I cut 3 squares, 2 in basic grey and 1 in river rock and mounted them onto black cardstock. I've used the river rock double stitched ribbon and mounted the flower onto the card using dimensionals. I used the 1 3/8" square punch with river rock for the bottom left corner and made photo corners using the large tag punch for the bottom right corner. I added 3 more brads to the top left corner for interest. I tried not to use too much colour as I wanted to try and stick to the greys and black; as I said before I found these colours very hard.

Colour Challenge #13

and here is my card. I hope I got it in on time

The colours are purely pomegranate, wild wasabi, regal rose, river rock and whisper white. I struggled with these colours trying to put them all together, still not sure if I really like the card but here it is. Leave a comment and let me know what you think.

The base is river rock with a layer of purely pomegranate on top of that which I roughed the edges of using the side of my bone scorer. I have then put a layer of white and stamped one of the verses from God's Blessings stamp set. In the corner I used the top of the tag punch to make photo corners in wild wasabi. I've used the wide grosgrain ribbon in regal rose across the bottom which I stuck down using double sided tape.

The flowers are from the stamp set called Petal Prints. I've coloured the base image in regal rose and wild wasabi using the blender pen and ink pads to soften the colour. I did the same using the outline stamp over the top for the 2 step stamping process. I've added a rhinestone brad in the corner in pink and roughed the edges of the white cardstock using the edge of my bone scorer and mounted it on wild wasabi using dimensionals and then adhered it to the card using double sided tape.

Kristina's Colour Inspiration #12

Here is Kristina's colour inspiration for the week:

I wanted to participate in the last couple of colour inspirations but didn't end up having time so I was looking forward to see what this week's challenge would be. I managed to make 2 cards this week and here they are: This is my first attempt. I've used the Think Happy Thoughts stamp set for the flowers and dotted cirlces around them. I've stamped the images using So Saffron and Wild Wasabi ink on whisper white cardstock. I then punched them out using the 1 3/8" square punch and mounted them onto wasabi cardstock that I trimmed using my paper trimmer and then they are mounted onto the card using dimensionals. I used Sahara Sand eyelets in the centre of each flower. I used Sahara Sand for the base of the card then a layer of white and another layer in So Saffron which I have pierced around all sides and then used the white gel pen over the top. I used the grosgrain ribbon in white and white eyelets to thread the ribbon through before tying a bow. The For You is from the Occasional Greetings stamp set.

Here is my second attempt. The base is So Saffron with a layer of Sahara Sand at the top. I've used the small oval punch to punch out 2 wasabi leaves, 2 saffron and 5 printed saffron petals. Then it's just a matter of arranging the petals how you want them and sticking them to the plain saffron punch top and underneath. I then put dimensionals on all petals to make sure it sticks. One of the wasabi leaves is on deminsionals and the other is just stuck using snail adhesive. I drew the stem using a blender pen and wasabi inkpad. The daisy is mounted onto white cardstock and then mounted onto wasabi cardstock. The greeting is from Fun and Fast Notes stamp set.

Christening card

I needed to make a Christening card for sunday. You can probably already notice that I have used a stamp that is not from Stampin' Up!. The cross stamp is from Imprint rubber stamps in wollongong.

I've used Blue Bayou, Very Vanilla and Soft Sky cardstock. I printed the words Thomas' Christening on the computer and put the very vanilla cardstock through the printer and trimmed it to size. The cross is stamped in blue bayou on very vanilla cardstock and mounted on blue bayou using double sided tape and then mounted onto the card using dimensionals.
Behind the cross I've used strips of blue bayou and soft sky double stitched ribbon. I used double sided tape to stick them down. I then put 3 brads from the vintage colour group underneath the cross.

I have pictured this card with the present I bought and wrapped using paper I bought from Ikea and then rolled using the Nursery Letter jumbo roller in Bashful Blue ink. This roll of paper I used I've had for a while and I can't believe it took me this long to use it to wrap presents with.

Blossom, Guava and Olive.......

is one of my favourite colour combinations at the moment.

I made this card a little while ago using Blush Blossom, Groovy Guava and Old Olive cardstock. I also love making a sideways opening card as I feel it stands better than a tent style card.

This is such an easy layout that you can apply to so many cards. I've used the Old Olive Prints Designer paper across the middle mounted on Old Olive cardstock. I stamped the background using the flower stamp from Simply Said randomly over the the Blush Blossom cardstock. I also stamped the same flower on a spare piece of cardstock to use later for the greeting which is from the level 1 hostess set - so many sayings which is stamped in Old Olive ink then punched out using the large oval punch. I then stuck some groovy guave ribbon on top of the Olive and then placed the oval greeting on top.

I stamped the solid flower on whisper white cardstock and then the dotted flower over the top before punching it out witht he 1 3/8" circle punch. The brad is Old Olive through the flower and then mounted using dimensionals onto a scalloped Groovy Guava piece that I have pierced using a piercing tool which is then mounted using dimensionals onto the card.

Gift Bags

Petals and Paisleys

As you may have seen mentioned on Di's blog (and if you haven't then check it out here) I have made a few gift bags as has Di. The first one I made was using the petals and paisleys Designer Series Papers. I really like this bag made in this paper.

This bag measures h:11.5cm by w:10cm by d:4.5cm. I cut the paper at 7" which gave me 3.8cm at the bottom and 2.5cm at the top to turn over.

I used sticky strip to stick down the side and bottom. The ribbon used is Blue Bayou double stitched ribbon. I tied double knots to make sure the ribbon wouldn't come through once tied. I made the card using very vanilla cardstock and seeing spots stamp set and the small flower is from simply said. The 'friends' greeting is from the level 1 hostess set, so many sayings (such a great set).

Berry Bliss

This bag uses the same measurements as the petals and paisleys. I've used purely pomegranate double stitched ribbon and made the card out of close to cocoa and pretty in pink cardstock. I stamped the image from boho backgrounds using purely pomegranate ink punched it out with the 1" circle punch and the greeting is from you guessed it the level 1 hostess set, so many sayings.

Old Olive Prints Paper

This bag was made using 2 sheets of the Prints Designer Series Papers. The bag measures h:22cm, w:18.5cm, d:6cm. I have allowed an extra 5cm at the bottom and 3cm at the top to turn over. I also allow an extra 1cm at each side to attach the two sheets together. I've used the wide old olive grosgrain ribbon for the handles and attached a card made using whisper white cardstock with a little strip of olive prints paper down the side. I stamped the paisley image from polka dots and paisleys stamp set in old olive and the greeting from so many sayings also in olive ink.

I punched the holes on all bags both sides together so the holes were in the same place. To punch the holes I used an everyday hole punch that you would use at school because I didn't own a crop-a-dile at that stage but I do now - YAY so that's what I'll be using now to make holes. The bag would also look nice with jumbo eyelets around the holes just to finish it off.

I've Been Tagged

I've been tagged by Danielle Fender and Debbie Minter a short while ago so here's is my attempt at responding. The rules are that I need to post 7 random and/or weird facts about myself and then tag 7 other blogs I visit. I'm not going to tag 7 other blogs but I will try and answer the 7 facts about myself:

1. When my husband and I first moved to Thirlmere we got 6 chickens - 1 died on christmas day, another died on good friday (we were starting to think we had religious chickens hehehe) and then our dog Zoe got into the chook pen and killed 2 of them (she just wanted to play with them) which left us with 2 until another one died a few months ago.

2. We have also had ducks and lots of them. In particular we had 3 that we found dead when we came home from work one day - very weird. We have no idea what happened.

3. I have 5 nieces and 2 nephews. I know that's not weird but you could say random! I'm only at point 3 and already struggling.

4. I have been in my current job for 5 1/2 years and prior to that worked as an Enrolled Nurse.

5. My husband and I got married 7 1/2 years ago. Matty always new he would marry a red headed nurse holding a rose. The first time he saw a photo of me I was holding a rose, I used to work as a nurse and I have red hair!!!

6. I met Matty through a friend I met while doing a massage course at Tafe. I was going to apply to do the course the year before but never got around to it. I applied the following year but didn't get in first go and followed up my application and ended up being accepted where I met a person who new Matt and introduced us.............

7. Lucky last. We have a beautiful German Shepherd Zoe, she is 3 years old. I bought her for Matty for his birthday a few years ago. We were going to buy a Labrador but when Matty saw Zoe he wanted the German Shepherd because she reminded him of his dog (Cleo) he had growing up. Zoe had practically the same markings as Cleo and when you see photos of them together they are almost identical.

I hope this wasn't too boring for you to read.

Fundraiser

Sorry it's been so long since posting, have been busy preparing for last weekends fundraiser that Di and myself had a stall at for Eschol Park Soccer Club. There were about 7 different stalls and was there first event like this. The evening went fast and we had a few interested people as we demonstrated a couple of projects; a baroque motifs card and a triangle box. It was something that neither of us had done before and was a good experience that I'm sure we both have learnt many things from. Here are a couple of photos of our stall:

This is my card stand that my husband made for me when I used to make and sell jewellery. I made tabs to put at the top of the my cards and punched a hole in the middle for them to hang on the rack - I think it looks pretty cool.

3 Piece Ensemble

A friend of mine from work (Melissa) is helping organise a fundraising evening for her soccer club of which I will be having a stall. I have enlisted Di to help me on the night and beforehand organising and creating bits and pieces for our display which I am very appreciative and thankful for. This is one of the ensembles I have made for our display. I love these colours together; Basic Gray, Pretty in Pink and Whisper White.

This card was inspired by a card in our current catalogue on page 87.
Stamp sets: Together Forever, Think Happy Thoughts
Cardstock: Basic gray textured card stock, whisper white and pretty in pink
Punches: Scallop punch, 3/4" punch, 1 1/4" punch and 1 3/8"punch
Accessories: Pink rhinestone brad, double sided tape, dimensionals, basic gray ink pad, piercing tool

Stamp sets: Together Forever, So Many Saying (level 1 hostess set)
Cardstock: Whisper white and pretty in pink
Punches: Tag punch, horizontal slot punch
Accessories: pretty in pink taffeta ribbon, small cellophane bags, crimper, double sided tape, chocolate hearts from Darrell Lea

I crimped some whisper white card stock and then cut it into thin pieces and arranged it in the bag, placed the hearts inside and then tied the ribbon arounde the top attaching the tag at the same time.

Stamp set: Together Forever
Cardstock: Whisper white, basic gray textured card stock
Punch: Corner rounder punch
Accessories: Pretty in pink taffeta ribbon, double sided tape, whisper white envelope, basic gray ink pad, mini glue dots

I made this last time I was at Di's house, she showed me how to make it as I had never made one before. For those who don't know how to make one it's very easy and something you need to try. All you do is get an envelope and seal the back as though you just put a card inside. You then you need to decorate the envelope, in this case I used the flower stamp from together forever and stamped on a diagonal all over the envelope. They you score both long sides and the bottom 2cm in. Score the bottom corners on an angle. Now fold along all score lines. Cut the top of the envelope at desired measurement depending on how big or small you want your bag to end up. Now open the top and if you have scored well the bag will start to naturally fold where it should. Use a mini glue dot to glue the bottom folds on the underneath of the bag. Cut a piece card stock, in this case basic gray to attach to the back of the top of the bag to fold over. It's up to you how you attach the ribbon. I attached it under the basic gray card stock at the back and then brought it around to the front and tied it into a bow; and there's your bagalope! I'm not sure how clear these instructions are for those who have never made one but if you have any questions just email me here and i'll try and help.

Colour Inspiration # 9

This is Kristina's colour inspiration for this week. It took me a while to make a card with these colours but here's what I came up with:

I used so saffron for the base of the card. I used the so saffron Prints paper from this month's special. I layered real red with tempting turquiose then put a scallop in old olive behind the flower in pumpkin pie with a pumpkin pie rhinestone brad in the centre which is mounted using dimenstionals. I used old olive 5/8" grosgrain ribbon around the card and attached it with double sided tape. The stamps sets used are Baroque Motifs and Occasional Greetings.

Happy Anniversary

My Manager at work asked me to make her an anniversary card so this is what I came up with. One of my new favourite colours is Basic Gray. You probably can't really see the colours well but I've used whisper white, basic gray, certainly celery Prints Designer Series Papers from the palette o' prints and vellum cardstock. I used elegant eggplant, certainly celery and basic gray ink pads stamped onto the vellum. When you stamp onto vellum you need to make sure you wait a while as it takes a little time to dry. I've used the absolutely and newly favourite Baroque Motifs stamp set. Once I stamped onto the vellum I used a couple of rhinestone brads to keep the vellum in place before adding the ribbon. The ribbons I used are 5/8" certainly celery grosgrain, basic gray taffeta and 1/4" elegant eggplant grosgrain ribbons. I tied the basic gray and elegant eggplant together which I really like. I always like to stick the ribbon down with double sided tape just so it stays where I want it. I then used the greeting from a level 1 hostess set called So Many Sayings in basic gray. Next time though I would stamp the greeting first as I had to remove one of the rhinestone brads because I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig to postition to stamp correctly. I really like how this card turned out.

Colour Inspiration # 8

This is Kristina Werners Colour Inspiration # 8. Kristina puts up a colour inspiration challenge each week on her blog for anyone to participate. If you haven't checked out her blog you need to. Here is my attempt at the colour inspiration:

Sorry the pictures aren't clearer. I made this tri-fold card using brilliant blue for the base. I made the stripes on the front and middle section using various widths of pumpkin pie, brilliant blue and bashful blue and used my new striped grosgrain ribbon in bashful blue; I only received it yesterday so as my husband would say 'that's a sign'!!! I've used the scallop punch, 1 1/4" circle punch and the 1 3/8" circle punch. The stamp said that was used was Boho Backgrounds and everything was stuck down using double sided tape or dimensionals.

It was fun making this card using colours that I wouldn't normally use, it's good to try new colour schemes so why not have a try using colours you wouldn't normally reach for next time you need to make a card.

More Flowers

I really like square cards and I felt this flower needed to be on a square card, sorry the photos not exactly centred. We made this card in the workshop I did on the weekend.

Cardstock: whisper white, tempting turquoise, purely pomegranate textured cardstock
Punch: large oval punch, 1 3/8" square punch, 3/4" circle punch
Accessories: purely pomegranate double stitched ribbon, petals and paisleys DS patterend paper, double sided tape, Stampin’ Dimensionals®, pretty in pink brad, tempting turquoise ink pad, mini glue dot, occasional greetings stamp set, stamp-a-ma-jig.

To make the flower I punched 8 ovals and positioned them on the purely pomegranate card stock before sticking them down. I made the tempting turquoise corners using the square punch then cut in half diagonally and trim to desired width and stick down. To adhere ribbon fold and stick together using a mini glue dot and then stick to cardstock using another mini glue dot.

I just wanted to say a very BIG thankyou to my very cool friend and fellow demonstrator Diane Barnes. Di has helped me set up this blog and answered many questions I had as I was a bit clueless (still am a little but getting better). Thankyou for sharing your time and ideas with me. Di and I catch up regularly to bounce ideas off each other which is great. The day goes rather quickly and sometimes we get stuff done and other times I think we talk more than we create but at the end of the day we have FUN. Mother's Day is only 2 weeks away so I thought I would make some cards to sell at work. I ended up making 28 in total and this was one of them. I absolutely LOVE the new In-Colours and I think groovy guava is going to be my favourite!

Circle Punch Flower Card

This card was inspired by a card that Sam posted on her blog which is absolutely gorgeous so you need to check it out.

Cardstock: sage shadow, very vanilla, ballet blue and lavender lace
Punches: circle ¾” and ½”
Accessories: Earth Elements® button, mini glue dot, SNAIL Adhesive®, lavender lace Stampin’ Pad®, Stampin’ Dimensionals® and Happy Birthday from 'God's Blessings' stamp set which can be found on page 114 of the current Idea Book and Catalogue.

I punched out 7 circles using the 3/4" punch (one in a different colour to go underneath the button and one for the leaves on the stem) and 5 using the 1/2" punch. I then stuck the small circles on the bigger circles before arranging them and sticking them to the very vanilla cardstock. I mounted the very vanilla onto sage shadow cardstock. I attached the Happy Birthday to the underneath of the sage shadow cardstock and mounted it using Stampin’ Dimensionals® and then stuck it onto the lavender lace then very vanilla card. I attached the button using a glue dot. The stem was cut free hand and I just cut the green circle in half for the leaves on the stem.
